A less expensive wine from a top southern Rhône producer as a barometer alongside. This just holds its own, despite the implacable sweetness of shiraz teeming across the edges of restraint. The oak, used to beautiful effect. Boysenberry, raspberry bonbon, clove, pastis and cedar."
